In the early 2000’s Peter founded Big Boat Transport, a local Australian company, to do boat transport for large vessels. He has operated his company ever since & has moved boats by road across millions of kms all over Australia to transport them to new locations.

In January 2022 Peter finished his latest boat trailer build. A completely bespoke design that was custom engineered to provide the latest long distance boat haulage equipment available in Australia to transport large, oversize, boats safely by road.

He loves using his experience to modify his heavy haulage vehicles and trailers to make it more efficient and safe for his company to move marine vessels of all types as they provide boat transport Australia wide.

Peter spent many months of painstaking research & development to incorporate a number of safety & heavy duty haulage features into the design using his extensive experience moving large boats. His boat transportation equipment can safely manage loads up to 30 tonnes for all types of vessels no matter their hull shape or manufacturer.

Peter has essentially grown up working in the boat transport industry where he began his early years designing and building boat trailers for one of NSW’s largest trailer manufacturing company’s in Sydney. In that environment he learnt all about how to understand the prevailing road conditions, different types or shapes of hull designs and how that knowledge can be used to design a boat trailers to correctly support small or large boats.

From a very young age he would help his father purchase old boats and restore them to their former glory. It’s here that he was introduced to transporting boats in Australia from the tender age of 12. He would be around large trucks and trailers unloading and loading boats with his dad for many years. 

Those memories, experiences and knowledge passed down from father to son. Things that he uses today to help boat owners in Australia.

Peter’s interest shifted from building trailers to doing long distance driving and he decided to combine his passion for fabrication with his love of the open road.

He started his boat transport company and has custom built each vehicle and trailer to be suitable for all types of transport usage. He has moved hundreds of different boat types, shapes and sizes over the years. After more than twenty years he still enjoys every boat transport job and gets a kick out of seeing people smiling to receive their pride and joy, ready to hit the water.

Big Boat Transport uses prime movers and low loading trailers (low loaders) that have been custom-designed by Peter to safely & efficiently transport large boats by road. The shape & design ensures there is no damage to the boat & it can be carried by road very smoothly.
